Happy 1st Birthday!

I can hardly believe today is the one-year anniversary/first birthday of The Well-Fed Newlyweds. Thank you to all of you who have been with me since the beginning, joined us along the way, and told your friends to check us out, too. It’s been a great ride so far, and I can’t wait to see what we cook up in the coming year.

(Clearly this is an out-of-season, not exactly recent picture, but it's all I had!!)

In case you haven’t been with us since the beginning – and let’s be honest, at the beginning most of my readers were related to me – I wanted to share with you some of our favorite recipes from the past year. These are recipes that we’ve loved enough to make more than once (something that doesn’t happen too often), recipes that changed our thinking about certain foods, and recipes that got rave reviews from our family and friends. I hope you enjoy them as much I we have.

One Year Ago: Lemon and Almond Biscotti; Quick Coq au Vin; Brazilian-Style Fish Stew; Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Garlic; Apple, Pear, and Cranberry Crisp

On the Sweet Side…

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies Hands down, my favorite cookies from the past year. ‘Nuff said.

Cheesecake Brownies We love them. Our friends love them. You will love them.

S’mores Cookies So easy to make. So fun to eat. No campfire required.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes A lot of work, but the most fun cupcakes I’ve made to date.

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Muffins A little sweet, a little savory, a lot delicious. (And healthy, too!)

On the Savory Side…

Brazilian-Style Fish StewOne of the first recipes I blogged about and one of our absolute favorites. We’ve made this numerous times, for ourselves and for company. The flavors are unlike anything else I’ve ever made.

Creamy Black Bean Salsa Chicken The recipe that made me fall in absolute love with my Crock-Pot. Five minutes of prep in the morning is all it takes to come home to a delicious dinner.

Risotto with Spicy Garlic Shrimp My first major attempt at risotto. The shrimp are crazy good.

Roasted Broccoli - Try this recipe, and you will never boil broccoli again.

Swiss Chard with Feta and Pine Nuts This recipe turned Swiss chard into one of my favorite vegetables. I make variations of this recipe often.

Buttermilk Drop Biscuits So simple. So tender and flaky. Positively dreamy.

Rosemary Foccacia Not really a traditional foccacia, but so easy, and so tasty. Perfect for dipping into olive oil or serving alongside your favorite pasta dinner.

Butternut Squash and Caramelized Onion Galette My first attempt at savory pastry. The results were perfect and the flavors in this dish are incredible. Perfect for fall.

  2. Thank you so much Allison. Your comment is so sweet. The photography is still a work in progress, but the better lighting in the new place is a huge help! I can't wait to see my progress over the next year.

  3. Hi Katie, I've only just stumbled onto your site and it has some great recipes. I also noticed that there have been no additions for some years. What a shame! Is there any chance that there will be more additions in the future?
